A representative from YG Entertainment revealed, “Yang Hyun Suk has long thought about making donations. He thinks of it as the result of people showing love to YG Entertainment and its artists, so he is paying back the love through donating.”

Read the interview of Yang Hyunsuk about 2NE1 and Big Bang below.
When is 2NE1's American Debut?
"Three out of the four members have lived in English-speaking countries so 2NE1 has an advantage. Big Bang is starting their world tour, and 2NE1 is going to focus on the US and Europe first. I want to start promotions around the end of the year."
About the new girl group.
“The group called YG's SNSD is going to appear in the summer time. A lot of people are saying how 'YG used to not look at appearances. I wonder how good they will be if they are YG standards and also attractive'. This group is not an attempt at a second 2NE1 or Big Mama. It is not a team that matches my personality at all. It is not pretty children dancing pretty dances, but these pretty girls are taking a hip hop approach.”
On the talk about Big Bang's return time
- Is Big Bang's comeback to soon?
“The Big Bang members and I thought about this for a long time. We know that no matter how much time passes, Big Bang's faults cannot be forgiven. We figured that they can go on the path to earn forgiveness while working hard with music and bringing others joy. Forgiveness doesn't come from hiding away from others. Big Bang's Korean promotions are important, but from looking at YouTube's view counts, we could see the reaction overseas was hot as well. We thought it was right to meet the fans with a Big Bang of power and dignity. Big Bang's comeback was wholly my will. It was not the members'."
- How did it feel seeing Big Bang halt promotions.
“It was very hard over the past months. G-Dragon took a lot of time to reflect and focused on making music. That is why we reached such good results. Without this time of reflection, we might have released music without new style. He was able to learn from this experience with his hurt and focus a lot while reflecting on his actions.”
- Don't you have to supervise them more now?
“People thing Big Bang and 2NE1 go out and party a lot but that is not the case. Don't you think I would be the best to know this information? They don't really know many other celebrities and they don't have much association. With the events that happened, they felt a heavy responsibility considering how much they were noticed. Rather than watching over them, I am trying to give them autonomy.”

On the conflict with KBS
- It has been noticed that you are friendlier with SBS and there seem to be conflicts with KBS.
“Saying that "our relationships are uncomfortable" or that there is a "power struggle" is not true. What would an entertainment company earn from a power struggle with a broadcast company? We didn't go on any MBC shows, so I don't see why there isn't it about our relationship with MBC.”
- Then what about the appearances on SBS compared to third parties.
We have a mutual understanding with SBS. We don't discriminate against broadcast companies, but we rather look at who the directors are. Park Sunghoon PD has a high rating, so last year with 2NE1's comeback we worked on the comeback stage with Park PD. We work hard to put on good performances, and we aren't trying to work with only one broadcast company.
We also try to promote on one music program per week. We do not discriminate and decide between music programs. If you go on a show that does not differentiate the stages, the singled ultimately is unable to be differentiated as well. We choose where to perform with a lot of care. The one time we perform, we want to put on a good stage."
- There is talk that you asked for special treatment from KBS and got denied, and that this why you do not perform on KBS shows.
“It doesn't make sense that a broadcast company is asked of special treatment. If this was the case we would want to be at the end of the program all the time. Last year on MBC GD&TOP only sang one song.”

Catch Yang Hyun Suk!’ According to many broadcasting agencies, YG Entertainment’s CEO, Yang Hyun Suk, has been receiving many heated love-calls from production crews of many shows, asking for guest appearances.
On the coming episode of SBS ‘Strong Heart’ on the 27th, many guests such as Big Bang, 2ne1, Se7en, Tablo, Psy, and Gummy (adding up to a total of 13 people), will reveal that Yang Hyun Suk had also been persistently asked to make an appearance as a guest on this show’s episode as well.
Not only has he been asked to appear on ‘Strong Heart’, but he has also been asked by many other show program staff to make a guest star appearance on their show. His popularity is no less than the popularity of the artists belonging in his company.
His past roots all the way back from Seo Taiji and Boys. In other words, he is one of the few most popular celebrities who tries to keep his private life as secretive and under-cover as possible. Only recently was it that he began familiarizing himself to the mass public again when he decided to appear as one of the judges for an SBS survival audition program ‘KPOP STAR’. This was the first time in approximately 16 years that he had begun to appear on public broadcast, making it a rare opportunity since he tends to be of scarcity within the media.
But unlike what many viewers were expecting, Yang Hyun Suk has shown the public his cute and precocious sides, giving many laughters to all. Not only is he warm and congenial, but he also makes the viewers nod in agreement with his keen constructive criticism during his time as a judge (on the show program).
His tool of growing friendliness and closeness with those around him is smiling. This part of him has given a stronger, better impression and has also given people more faith and respect towards him. Some people have even said that the greatest beneficiary of ’KPOP STAR’ is not the contestants, but Yang Hyun Suk himself. This has also strengthened the positive impression the public has on him.
However, on the 15th of March, Yang Hyun Suk announced to E-Daily STARin that he will not be participating in any shows or variety programs other than ‘KPOP STAR’. The reason being that he has committed to devoting himself through the path of being a producer, instead of the path of being a celebrity.
He stated that, “the only reason why I have participated in ‘KPOP STAR’ is because it is related to my job as a producer. Once I start appearing and participating in other shows, I am a celebrity” and that, “My kids(artists) must outshine me more than I outshine them. I cannot be the one to outshine them.”
In addition to speaking about his artists, he went on to say that “they are all lovable and beautiful like my own children” and that “I find it fun and entertaining to have to think of a way raise them and wondering how I am going to make a team or group out of them.”
And because of these reasons, every now and then, they reluctantly appear on shows, giving the public the wrong impression that YG is a group of stubborn artists.
Lastly, he stated “If I really didn’t want to hear people talking badly about me or saying negative things about me, I would have already let all my artists go after their contracts have ended. That would make everything easier. However, that is not the case here. What I do now is YG’s style and way of handling things and I don’t think that will ever change even in the next ten years. I would really be thankful if people thought of it as my love for my own kids.”

On February 21st, a photo of the three superstars of the nineties was uploaded on an online community board titled, "A snapshot of the three flower boys Seo Taiji, YG, Won Jun backstage in ’93."
The photo shows the three superstars together in a waiting room all the way back in 1993. They all look pretty much the same, but the one that most catches the eyes is Yang Hyun Suk, with his nice blonde hair.

15 years ago, President Yang Hyun Suk founded YG Entertainment, and since then has produced stars such as Se7en, Big Bang, and 2NE1, who have all turned out to be formidable KPop stars, and this year, YG has finally been listed in the KOSDAQ market.
◇ “In the international market, content plays a key role.. 2NE1 World Tour” = YG is foremost, not an agency that mainly focuses on just business. Artists focus more on making good content first, so there’s a conservative look at overseas expansions.
It’s fortunate the Big Bang and 2NE1 is more suited to the Europe and United States market, compared to the other singers and groups. It’s because both are trendy and heavily based on hip-hop and are both grounded in their music, explains the president.
Like Big Bang who is going on a world tour this year, 2NE1 would also be opening to the world market. If 2NE1 would benefit greatly from it, then there may be plans for a world tour for promotions.
Now, YouTube and Social Network Services usher in a new era for singers all over the world. Even without any formal promotions Big Bang won MTV’s Europe Music Awards, while 2NE1 was selected as MTV Iggy’s “Best New Band In The World.”
President Yang has said, “Big Bang, 2NE1, would have performances abroad, joining festivals during their promotions,” he said, “In order to conduct business more efficiently, there may be plans of having YG offices in United States and Europe.”
However, the Asia market is still the key point. Last year, YG collaborated with Avex in Japan, and founded the label, “YGEX,” wherein Se7en, Big Bang, and 2NE1 have promoted under, and where Psy is planned to debut this year. They haven’t attempted to expand in China yet, but are looking to advance at the direction of Hong Kong and Taiwan.
President Yang said, “Big Bang and 2NE1 in United States and Europe, Se7en in Japan, we’re focusing on the strength of each artist that would match the market.”
He said, “2NE1 is an extensive combination of hip-hop, electronic, and rock, mixed with rap music, it’s hard to see that they are still relatively a rookie girl group, it’s hard to say for now what the new girl group’s concet would be,” he said, “Usually, YG groups are heavily grounded on hip-hop.”
He followed with, “Big Bang with the internet, 2NE1 with cable broadcasts, the new group would emerge in a new, different way as well,” he said.

Proudcer, and now the CEO of YG entertainment company, who just celebrated their 15th anniversary, Yang Hyunsuk remembers 2011 as one of the more difficult year. Two friends (Daesung and G-Dragon) he had been taking care of since they were just kids, got in trouble. Even though they are better now, at the time it was extremely difficult to bear. Daesung got in to a car accident despite his will, and G-Dragon smoked marijuana. With that BIG BANG will be returning this March. Though we got a taste of it last year in Europe, YG as a whole will be greeting the new year with a proper world tour. In time, we met with Yang Hyunsuk at the YG building.
We can’t forget with BIG BANG, the reason for YG’s large fortune. They say that Yang is a hundred-millionaire (no sources confirming this), and though this has a lot to do with YG’s marketing skills, but if we were to just count what we could see, half of YG’s stocks would be from BIG BANG.
“Last year was the worst year for us. They were friends I took care of from when they were 13, and even I found it difficult. That was my thoughts as a parent. When I was running YG for 15 years, I wanted to give the kids a lot of freedom. However, I started finding restriction important, too.”
He says that since two things that never happened during the “Seotaeji and Boys” days happened at once, he found it hard to handle. But what happened is what happened, he had to quickly admit what he had to admit and get over it. As YG said himself, he both disciplined and supported BIG BANG as parents, or an uncle rather than an older brother, and that’s why he feels the most guilt towards BIG BANG.”
“Not only did I learn a lot, I feel BIG BANG did too. Last year, BIG BANG hardly went outside and stayed together in the studio, bringing themselves closer to each other. If nothing happened, they probably would have spent more time outside the studio, not show this much determination. It became a extremely bitter, but the best medicine. Most singers have difficulty passing 5 years, but they became stronger.”

So he has high hopes for BIG BANG this year. He plans to put all his energy in to BIG BANG, who is facing a World Tour. “As a producer, I think that the whole world is watching now. When creating contents, I plan to be more detailed, and not embarrassing, and spend a lot of energy in to the music video, as well.”
BIG BANG will soon be going to New York to shoot this music video. They will be spending a lot of money to make it grand-scaled. Though YG has been careful about spending a lot of money, but since it’s time for BIG BANG to take off again, he will not be careful. YG had been quality over quantity all this time. From 1TYM, BIG MAMA, SE7EN, BIG BANG and 2NE1, YG had always been very confident about the content of his music. That was one of the reasons why he kept BIG BANG back while all other companies were having hallyu-concerts around the world.
YG states, “If we see the news or TV today, you see kpop stars going out to create concerts outside of Korea, but I don’t want to do that with BIG BANG.” His theory is that “The service of going to them will not work, we have to make them come to us.” Like BIG BANG this time, his plan is to make a lot of good content, and promote it well a variety of sources.
Here, he began speaking about what fans are the most curious about: BIG BANG’s comeback and world tour.
“BIG BANG’s biggest asset is that though they shine when they are together, they can also bring out their own solo albums. So I think of BIG BANG as six teams, not one team.” YG has said that BIG BANG is both ‘together but separate’, and Daesung, who had gone through the most pain, will be the first to release his solo album.
This year, starting with the Korean concerts in March, they plan to have a flawless World Tour, with the first half of 2012 in Japan and Asia, then in the latter half in Europe, North America and South America. YG can’t forget about their quality, either. YG said “In a stage, sound, lights and video are the most important, people in Korea tend to work separately. So we used a lot of Japanese staff, but this time we are working with LIVE NATION, a company in USA.” LIVE NATION is a performance company that worked with Beyonce and Lady Gaga.
He said that BIG BANG is not one team, but six teams. There is BIG BANG, then Daesung, Seungri, G-Dragon, TOP, Taeyang. They focus when they’re working on their solo albums, but also focus during tours for all of them, and they plan to help with both these sides. “We plan to start solos with Daesung. I want him to get wash all scars away soon, since he has many from last year.” YG is family, and as the head of the house, this is the thoughtful care he will give.

Jung Hyung Don's bold and straight-forward address, fellow comedian Kim Kyung Jin also sent his request on joining YG Entertainment.
Recently, Jung Hyung Don attempted to call G-Dragon, to which a representative from YG received the call, on MBC every1’s "Weekly Idol" and half-jokingly said, "Are you recruiting comedians? I don't have an entertainment company".
YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk responded, "If Jung Hyung Don really meant what he said, I would like to discuss a management contract with him."
On January 30th, Kim Kyung Jin showed his unique way of sending his appeal. He tweeted, "I wish to go to YG. It’s because I’m a 'gag-singer' who has released three digital singles! A gagman and singer!! CEO Yang!", and attached the photo above.
In the photo, Kim can be seen in front of his laptop with a typed note, "I want to join YG too!". He also wrote letters "Y" & "G" on his cheeks, arousing laughter to netizens.

Look's like the news have been heard by the CEO himself.
Recently, there was a segment in MBC Every1's "Weekly Idol" where there was a special call to G-Dragon of Big Bang as he won the poll on the idol with the most luxurious aura. Comedian Jung Hyung Don ended up calling YG Entertainment's office because he did not have G-Dragon's number, and the comedian half joked that he wants to join YG Entertainment and the officer on the other line said he'll make sure to tell their CEO.
And looks like the officer have kept his promise as YG Entertainment's CEO has made his statement. He recently revealed in an interview that if the opportunity arises then he wont hesitate and mind it at all and sign a comedian. The CEO doesnt mind having diversity in the artist's he's handling although I dont think he has any experience in the comedy department.
Netizens are surprised with this and are interested in the outcome, could this be the opportunity for Jung Hyung Don to sign with YG Entertainment?

A representative of YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk stated that he will have the upmost enthusiasm and pour his heart out for Big Bang’s comeback in February of 2012.
In OSEN’s recent phone conversation with Yang’s representative, it was stated, “This year’s first priority is Big Bang…I want to do everything I can for Big Bang. Even though there are preparations for new groups, we have almost been fully occupied with Big Bang’s music, so the plans [for the new groups] have been running late.” The debut of YG’s new groups, which were originally planned for the spring of this year, have a high probability of being pushed back to the second half of the year.
Big Bang had a difficult year in 2011. In February, the mini-album that they released for the first time in 2 years achieved an all-kill on the charts as they were off to a refreshing start, and they even stood in the limelight in overseas performances in Japan.
However, promotions were halted for Daesung after his involvement in a sudden car accident in May, and G-Dragon, who was on the brink of beginning his solo promotions, was swept in a marijuana smoking controversy in October. Although the issue was cleared after the Seoul District Public Prosecutor’s Office declared that G-Dragon’s suspension of indictment was cleared, in reality, Big Bang as a whole announced a period of “self-reflection” and became engrossed with working on their new album.
About this, Yang’s representative stated, “The past year was the hardest year for YG, and you could say that it was a time of crises,” adding, “Just as injuries leave scars and mistakes leave lessons learned, not just I, but all the members of Big Bang, have become much more aware and have reflected a lot after going through these events. I think that this time spent will be something that Big Bang will have with them as they move forward, that will act like a good medicine.”
YG’s figurehead Big Bang has already given notice of their February comeback today. Prior to this, it was often commonplace for Big Bang’s comeback to be later than originally planned, but YG boastfully assured that this time, “there is absolutely no way that will happen.”
Yang’s representative stated, “During the time of self-reflection, the members of Big Bang even worked on Sundays to the point where they practically lived in the studio, and they were completely absorbed in their music. The Big Bang members were so busy that even I didn’t get to see their faces very much, but when I did spend time with them together, I felt happy." It was added, “As we were having our time of self-reflection, I learned the lesson that during [Big Bang’s] new album preparations, we shouldn’t have other scheduled plans.”
Yang has great expectations for Big Bang’s new album. It was confidently stated, “The five members immersed themselves in their music with one heart during these past months, so there are many products and as one, they are great. This year, Big Bang will release more songs than ever and do many promotions."
