[Interview] MBLAQ wants to visit Philippines!
They are not the "Idols raised by Rain" anymore. Now MBLAQ is a group that has made an impact in the Hallyu wave with their own music style.
MBLAQ debuted in 2009 as the "Idols raised by Rain" and received lots of spotlight and attention. MBLAQ's homework was to be lifted from the title of "Made by Rain" and to appeal to the people with their own charms. MBLAQ has shown many of each member's charms throughout the three years they have been active through their albums and shows. Especially Lee Joon who captured people's hearts through variety shows with his witty words and talent and G.O. who showcased his vocal skills through the KBS2TV show "Immortal Song 2."
MBLAQ has shown their masculinity charms as they released their 4th Mini-album '100%Ver.' on the 10th. Title track 'It's War' is a track that captures eyes with its sharp, dance movements. We recently met up with MBLAQ who were greatly busy and tired with their overbooked schedules, but who realistically explained to us what their album was about.
Below is MBLAQ's questions and answers.
-This song's reaction is great.
"We feel good. It's the first time we were picked a song that was absolutely perfect. It was a theme of revenge so although everyone may not be able to feel the same way, we were happy that everyone liked it." (Seungho)
-Lee Joon's bullet performance stirred up a lot of interest.
"We are all satisfied with the whole dance performance. This time instead of just one dance part, we heard many dance parts catching interest. It's a dance with a lot of acting, and Lee Joon is the one who can really express that and keep it alive, so Lee Joon was the one to do the bullet acting." (Cheondung)
-This album was totally made by producers. Parts where members specially focused on?
"This time we left everything in the main producer's hands. In the 1st album we put in many of our ideas but we thought it'd be better this time to let our music style be shown with songs more related to each other. But the members actively participated in the album making. Again, we thought of how we could fully express this track every day and even made some additions to the performance. We even added more opinions to the choreography." (G.O.)
-Recently, you guys have been filming KBS JOY "Hello Baby". How is your relationships with the kids?
"It boils a lot and it's hard. Haha. It'd be a bit better if the kids were younger but the kids have the ability to express things strongly so there are some hard things. However, we are working hard to show you the bright relationships between a cross-cultural family. We hope that it becomes an opportunity where we can destroy the way these kids are differently viewed in Korea." (G.O.)
-In 2012, is there a new country you guys want to visit?
"We have our Japan comeback and Asia Tour with 12 dates planned out. We have released a single album in Japan but we could only promote for a week so the time was too short. That's why we want to try promoting in Japan longer. And we are always so happy because the Japanese fans pour out their love to us although we have done nothing for them. We also feel that we become one through K-POP." (Seungho)
"I want to release an album in the Philippines. It was a place where I lived before, so I think it will be comfortable. And I can see my friends. But weirdly we haven't been able to grab schedules in the Philippines. I want to visit the Philippines and even Europe. How nice would it be if we did a MBLAQ solo concert there? (laughs)" (Cheondung)
-You guys released a new album along with starting 2012, what does MBLAQ anticipate?
"We don't know what kind of image we have been showing to the audience, but what we want is to have complete satisfaction and do our best in our performances. So that fans can trust in us and watch us. And I hope the members can promote without hurting. Lee Joon is really suffering right now because of his cold." (Mir)
-Member Lee Joon has met with his own 'Year of the Dragon' this year, is your determination any different?
"This year is my own year of the dragon. And black dragon at that! I'm going to work so hard that I'm going to hear, "This time the group MBLAQ with black dragon member Lee Joon dominated the year." There are many things planned out, but I'm not going to rush anything and just take these slowly one by one. We have confidence that we will not fail the fans." (Lee Joon)
-MBLAQ's goal this year?
"To get number one on the major music programs. We want to work hard and reach the top. To do that we think that we need to stay healthy and not forget our beginnings. We will show many good sides of us to not disappoint the fans." (G.O.)
