Actress Jang Nara received surprise birthday gifts from her Chinese fans.
Prior to her birthday on March 18, fanclub members visited Jang Nara in Zhejiang while she was filming a Chinese drama ‘Red Palanquin,’ which was scheduled to go on air early next year. The fans wore the same light blue T-shirt with Jang’s caricature, bearing gifts and sweets to celebrate her birthday.
Jang Nara was largely surprised by their unexpected visit, and she spent a great time with the fans, taking photos with all of them. It is said that the passion that Jang Nara’s fans became a huge energizer for the other staffs as well.
Meanwhile, ‘Red Palanquin’ will show the life story of Litty, who was born with a handicap, growing into a very successful business woman.
Korean actress Jang Nara and her father attended a press conference in China on Thursday to promote the Chinese drama in which both actors have starred.
The father and daughter pair attended the event for the drama “Race Course” at a hotel in Tsingtao where they were greeted by throngs of press.
Jang told journalists that it was hard work filming and that she hopes her dedication will pay off.
“I remember one time it was the middle of winter and I had to dive into the ocean. It was challenging, but I worked hard on it and I hope the fans will like it,” the 31-year-old actress said.
Earlier in the month, Jang and her father, Ju Ho Sung, attended another press conference in Beijing to promote the Chinese drama that began airing on April 11 on CCTV.
The drama is set in the days of the Qing Dynasty and tells the tale of a group of Chinese citizens who resisted foreign invasion and prevailed against exploitation and cruelty by competing at the race track. The show is also set to air in Korea later this year.
Since returning to Korea to promote her new single “I Can Only Think of You,” singer and actress Jang Nara has been dearly missed by Taiwanese fans, whose demands led media from the island to meet Jang in her home country.
Reporters from the television program “Channel V” and the magazine “Play” caught up with the Korean actress for a two-hour interview in which Jang spoke in Chinese, much to the reporters’ delight. Some at the event cried upon seeing the star.
“I’ve been away from Korea, so it’s still strange to run into Korean celebrities. It’s a new thing for me,” Jang said.
The 31-year-old also confessed that because she started off in the industry as an actress, singing is still more challenging for her. She also explained that she didn’t have any plans to live outside of her home country again for the long term.
“At this point, I want to remain in Korea and try my luck at portraying a diverse range of characters,” Jang said.
Singer Jang Nara confessed that she was addicted to an online game.
On the April 17th episode of SBS variety show “Strong Heart”, Jang Nara revealed the she once fell into gaming addition. The singer said, “I was addicted into a computer game.”
“When I find a new hobby, I tend to get hooked. So recently I got hooked to computer game”, she continued. “I played it so much I wouldn’t wash or eat and would just spend entire days playing the game.”
Jang Nara also confessed, “One day, my thumb swelled and I had to get a surgery because I played video games too much”, surprising many viewers who had an image of an innocent school girl.

After a 4-year absence, singer and actress Jang Nara finally made her comeback to the local music scene with her new digital single "I Only Think Of You".

The single, to be released on March 26, consists of two tracks including the ballad title track "I Only Think Of You" as well as a duet with Alex titled "It Was You."
On March 19, Jang Nara revealed a music video teaser for title track "I Only Think Of You."
Meanwhile, Jang Nara has been focusing her career in China through TV series and Chinese albums. She debuted as singer in Korea in 2001. Her last local album was her single "Figure Style" in 2009 and recorded OST for MBC drama "Dongyi - Jewel in the Crown" and KBS "Babyfaced Beauty."
Singer and actress Jang Nara left for Taiwan on March 9 to record her duet with singer Jimmy Lin. The collaboration ballad titled "Flying With You" will be part of the OST for Jang Nara's upcoming Chinese-language movie Flying With You.
According to a representative, the new single will be also listed in Jang Nara's fourth full-length Chinese album, which is scheduled to release in April or May. The single was composed by the Taiwanese singer Jay Chou and composed and produced by JJ Lin.
Flying With You is the first Chinese film to give Jang Nara a lead role, and was produced to commemorate the 20 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and China. The film is about the love that blooms between a paramotor-crazy man (Jimmy Lin) and a rich Chinese girl who studied in Korea (Jang Nara).

Singer and actress Jang Nara will be making her comeback to the local music scene with a digital single album to be released in March.
According to her agency on February 20th, "Jang Nara will release her digital single in mid-March which is composed of two tracks."
"She has completed recording the ballad track 'I Only Think of You' as well as a duet with singer Alex called 'It Was You', which is currently in the post-production stage," the company said, adding that she recently wrapped up shooting the music video for it.
