[News] miss A, "We try to reborn as 'Sentimental Idol'!
The girl group miss A who has been gaining a lot of popularity these days with their new mini album, "Touch" returned with an intense drama performance. In recent interview with KBS, they stated, "We have presented powerful dance performances up until now, but you might be able to find the difference from our new album. We try to express our emotions even in our finger movements. Our performance can be expressed like a work of drama. (laugh)"
The two time winning best dance performer group, miss A (Jia, Min, Suzy and Fei) came back with a sense of maturity yet feminine looks. Their new main title song "Touch" was released on February 20, and it quickly gave explosion reaction as it took over real time music site charts.
In a recent interview, Min talked about how they changed everything from their dances, costumes, to their make up in order to present completely different images of a mature woman. Min said, "We have actually presented rather strong performances up until now(laugh). Our previous songs usually have direct feelings both in the performance and the lyrics of the songs, but the new song 'Touch' contains delicate emotions. It has a concept, 'Love that comes from broken heart,' and the song itself seems to be very feminine."
"Touch" is written, composed, and produced by the producer and singer Park JinYoung (JYP). The song is about a woman's old pain surfaces by a simple touch, when she thought her heart would ever be able to open again.
Jia explained, "JYP PD said that 'Touch' is a song that pursues a work of art. So we have focused on expressing the feelings of the female protagonist in the lyrics of the song in every element including singing, dance, costume, and makeup. We hope that people who watch our performance on the stage will feel like that they just finished watching a work of drama. So we try to express every detailed feeling and emotion even in our tiny little movements. We found it very difficult to express the pain from love because we are still young, but actually we have all become addicted to painful feelings eventually after practicing too many times (laugh)."
miss A's new mini album includes dance songs such as “Lips," "Rock n Rule," "No Mercy," and "Over U" besides "Touch." The song "Lips" is a cheerful dance song, and it has been produced by popular American producer Fuego who had worked with star singers such as Chris Brown. He also wrote miss A's previous track "Love Alone" from "A Class". "Rock and Rule" has the recent trend sound called "Dubstep."
Jia said, "The other dance songs are very different from the title song. Our group members try to reflect our own thoughts on this album, so you might be able to listen to diverse songs from our album."
miss A had advanced into the Chinese market last autumn before they released this new mini album. When they held an autograph event with their fans in Taiwan, almost 3,000 fans came to the event venue, which reportedly blocked all the transportation facilities near the event hall.
Fei mentioned that they were surprised that so many fans came to the event, they weren't expected that many - maybe about 500. But they were very thankful to those who took the time around to see them. Fei said, "We held the event in a music store that is connected to the subway station and we could feel the heated atmosphere right after we entered the place."
The Chinese members Jia and Fei felt emotional when they traveled back to China. In Korea, Jia and Fei are always busy asking things from Suzy and Min in Korea, but the position has changed when they arrived in China. Fei stated, "We felt very comfortable with the thinking 'Now we finally came to our boundary.'"
Jia added, "My parents were incredibly happy. Whenever we appeared on Chinese TV, my parents would call me to tell me that it was so amazing to see their daughter who has become a star, is appearing on TV. So I try to do my best while holding activities for my parents. I have come to go back to the basics and have the initial mindset that I had when I first debuted in Korea."
When asked about their plans for this year, Min answered, "We have had no plans for our overseas activities. We will first hold activities with 'Touch' in Korea, and if we can have any chance, we might be able to have more activities in China."
Suzy added, "If you watch our music video of 'Touch,' a rose blossoms when a new love finally comes. Like the rose in our music video, I hope that miss A will be able to bloom in 2012. I want to make this year as 'miss A's year.'"
All the group members agreed, "Our group name 'miss A' has the meaning of 'Miss Asia,' so we want to become the best girl group in Asia. We will continue to do our best until we can make our dreams come true."
In related news, miss A is determined to find their own color, and they made their latest comeback stage on Music Core.
