JYJ (Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu)’s daily life documentary film ‘The Day’ were sold out at all 19 theaters and announced its sensation at the theater district.
According to the box office of advance sale by the Korean Film Commission, JYJ’s film ‘The Day’ set record of its share by 42.2% by selling out all the seats of 19 theaters on February 20th. This figure is the tremendous when compared with the share of the most controversial movie ‘The War with Crime,’ 12.1%.
Lotte Cinema, which actualized the screening of JYJ’s ‘The Day,’ stated “the website has crashed down temporarily due to 110,000 simultaneous accesses by people who wanted to purchase tickets for JYJ’s stage greetings at 1pm.” “The ticket sale for 19 theaters began at 4pm and all the tickets were sold out in one hour. The theater in Busan set record as all the tickets were sold out in five minutes.”
Moreover, “Evinuel theater near Lotte Hotel had many Japanese visitors trying to get tickets from early morning. Even insiders were surprised by the explosive reaction because generally only 30% of seats get sold for films related to singers.”
JYJ’s agency CJES stated “we decided to screen the contents that could not be aired on television as the fan service for only short period of time. However, due to the massive phone calls by fans trying to purchase tickets, we are under consideration with Lotte Cinema for additional screenings.”
In 2011, CJES planned to air ‘JYJ Real 24,’ a series showing members’ dreams, daily life, friendship, happiness and etc., through QTV. QTV informed the cancellation after the trailer had been already aired. CJES re-edited to 90-minute film and planned to screen at CGV, but CGV unilaterally breached the contract 15 days before the opening.
Although the screening of JYJ’s documentary might have been foundered due to external pressure, Lotte Cinema actualised the screening of ‘the Day’ at its theaters. ‘The Day’ is the full edition of JYJ’s true story including their essay, songs, World Tour, photo exhibition and etc.
In March, JYJ will have concerts in South America, which will be a great finale of JYJ’s World Tour
