[Interview] TEEN TOP, “After we won 1st, Andy sunbaenim’s first sentence to us was definitely “Why didn’t you guys cry on stage”!
TEEN TOP’s popularity is impressive. After capturing the hearts of noonas with ‘No More Perfume On You’, in the recent ‘Crazy’, TEEN TOP made a clean sweep on terrestrial music programmes.
They rose to become influential figures, winning triple crown by placing first on 3th February’s KBS 2TV ‘Music Bank’, 4th February’s MBC TV ‘Music Core’, 5th February’s SBS TV ‘Inkigayo’
“Even with ‘No More Perfume On You’, we didn’t win 1st, but we won 1st with ‘Crazy’. It’s our first 1st place since our debut 1 year and 6 months ago, we’re really grateful for it. After we won 1st on ‘Music Bank’ we called our family and they told us good job and praised us alot. That’s when our tears fell like waterfalls”
With TEEN TOP’s 1st place win, no one can be happier than Andy. Andy had spent his time before enlistment with TEEN TOP. Although he could not show his affection while serving the country, he was always supporting them from afar
“We heard that Andy sunbaenim cried when we won 1st. When we called him later, he told us off, “Even I’m crying why didn’t you guys cry on stage” (Haha). But nonetheless Andy sunbaenim’s support and encouragement has always been strength to us
TEEN TOP also expressed their gratitude towards Brave brothers. Brave Brothers produced ‘Crazy’ to complement TEEN TOP’s music and team concept. TEEN TOP’s calibre and Brave Brother’s music was in synergy
What’s the reason for TEEN TOP’s popularity. According to them it is because they different on stage and off stage. TEEN TOP is an idol group that shows overflowing charisma on stage, but actually with people they are thoughtful and gentle.
“SHINHWA is our role model. We wanted to be like SHINHWA even before our debut. That’s why we put in so much effort in choreographing and practicing it. In particular our perfectly synced dance is the result of months of practice and chemistry. So that when the people who watch us can think that we’re cool and think ‘as expected from TEEN TOP~’ Please continue to love~ TEEN TOP’s charm of bringing perfectly synced dance and cool performances"
Although TEEN TOP won the 1st place on music programs they had been looking forward to, they are not complacent and they more determined to work even harder.
“It’s hard to climb up, but it’s easy to fall back down. Although we’ve won 1st place, there’s no guarantee that we’ll always win 1st. As compared to be concerned about rankings, it is our dream to fully show our music and performances. If we have a wish for the year, it is holding a concert. Although we are still lacking in many ares, but if we continue to receive the fans love, I think we’ll definitely be able to make it happen”
When we asked TEEN TOP whether they can feel their popularity, they replied ‘hmm yeah’
“Firstly as compared to ‘No More Perfume On You’ we feel that we have more fans. Hyomin sunbaenim said during a broadcast to Niel “You’re quite cute’; many people showed their attention when L.Joe and 4minute Sohyun acted in the music video together. I think all these events created a synergy.”
When asked about a memorable fan, TEEN TOP said that it was the fan who prepared an entire table of food for them. They expressed that they’ll never forget the fan that prepared a table of rice, seafood, side dishes for them during the fan meetings
Because the fan meeting continued to take place, they couldn’t really eat the food, but they promised that they’ll grow rapidly with the fans love
