On Dec. 26, Gallup Korea named IU's “Good Day” the song of the year. The research company surveyed 3,401 respondents over the age of 13 to find that singer IU’s hit song had 3.9 percent of the votes in the Gallup poll. Each respondent was asked to list three of their favorite songs from this year.

The survey results were collated from Nov. 18 to Dec. 9, and test subjects were of both sexes. The song was also selected as the most-favored song to sing at karaoke.

Second place was awarded to girl group T-ara for the song “Roly Poly,” which garnered 3.3 percent of votes. Meanwhile, the third and fourth spots went to Girls’ Generation for “The Boys” and CNBlue for the track “Intuition.”

In the same study within the idol band category, Girls' Generation came in first for the third year.

This year has been a triumphant year for 18-year-old IU, who made a comeback in November with her second album “Last Fantasy.” All tracks on the album became most-downloaded songs the day the album was released.

Local media reported that the teenager made 6 billion won ($5.2 million) in record sales before the launch in the first three months of the year. Thus, with the sales from her second album, the singer is estimated to have made more than 10 billion won, earning her the unofficial title “Minor Enterprise” in the press.
